In this article we will show you how to create a full account backup in your cPanel account.

Create a Full Account Backup

Step 1: Login to your cPanel account.

Step 2: Click on the Backup option under the Files section of your cPanel dashboard

Step 3: In the Full Backup section click on the Download a Full Account Backup button.

Step 4: On the next screen, make sure the Home Directory option is selected. This should be selected by default.

Step 5: Your cPanel email address should be added automatically to provide you with a notification when the backup is complete. If you do not wish to receive this notification then select Do not send email notification of backup completion.

Step 6: Click on the Generate Backup button to start the backup process.

  • You should then see a message stating Full Backup in Progress. This will take a little time, how much depends on the size of your cPanel account. If selected, you will receive a notification once this process has been completed.

Step 7: Once completed, you will need to download the file to your local computer. The file can be found under the /home directory in your file manager and will start with backup followed by the date. For example backup-01.01.2020.tar.gz or something similar.

*Please note that we do not allow you to keep backups in file manager on the server. Once you have downloaded the backup from your cPanel account you should then delete this from the server.
