How to set up a redirect in cPanel?

If you need to set up a redirect for any of your domains on cPanel, this can be done easily through the Redirects function. Please follow these steps:

  • Log in to your cPanel account.
  • Navigate to the Domains section and click on Redirects.
  • Here you will be able to choose your redirect type, domain, specify a custom path to be redirected (if needed), and choose between redirecting www version of your domain or not.
  • Click Add.

All redirects will be shown on the Redirects page and can be deleted as necessary.

Redirect types

Permanent 301

A 301 redirect is a permanent redirect and is used if you no longer plan to use the original URL. A visitor will notice the URL change in their browser as it is unmasked but it is also good for SEO as it tells the search engines that both websites are linked.

Temporary 302

A 302 redirect is a temporary redirect often used when making substantial changes to your website. As with a 301 redirect, a 302 redirect is also unmasked so visitors will see the URL change.

Wild Card Redirect

A Wild Card Redirect will redirect all files from a directory to the same filename in the redirected directory.
